JENNY EDEN COACHING

2017 Holiday Gift Guide

I love this time of year.  I love finding the perfect gift for someone I care about and seeing how happy they are to receive it when it’s something they are really excited about.  I also get a lot of satisfaction from creating gift guides like this.  I am always on the hunt for new wellness products, speciality foods and services or anything funky, unique or courses and books that will change other people’s lives.  If you want to look at last year’s gift guide, just click here!  This year, I’ve organized the guide based on 4 categories:  Food, Wellness, Books and Courses or Bundles.  I truly hope you enjoy this, find some ideas to get for yourself or a loved one or maybe even a co-worker or teacher in your life.  You can visit the website of each item by clicking on the title or on the image itself.

Let me know what you think.  Which is the first one you’re going to grab?

Daily harvest

Daily harvest is like a meal kit delivery service except for smoothies!  They are literally the easiest and most user friendly smoothie kit ever.  All the superfood ingredients are inside a cup.  You pour the ingredients into your blender wither either water or milk and then pour it back into the same cup, which has a lid and a straw.  The flavors are unique and delicious.

Turmeric Latte Mix

Turmeric has many healing and anti-inflammatory properties.  I use it in my soups, stews teas and smoothies.  And now there is a turmeric latte mix!  Combining two of my favorite things!

Halvah Heaven

I have always been obsessed with Halvah – and its not always so easy to find!  When I was pregnant, I begged my husband to go find some from me at night, prompting him to go to 3 different food markets before finding it and helping me with my specific craving. When I visited Israel I got to have it every day and it was heaven! Speaking of heaven, there is an entire Boston-based business that specializes in halvah!  Of all different flavors too!  Its like a dream come true for me.  You can order them as gifts as well.

Thrive Market

Thrive Market is also one of my favorites.  You can shop thousands of organic, non-gmo brands of foods and specialty foods, get them at a huge discount than at brick and mortar stores and then have them shipped to you!  They have membership packages too.  I highly recommend this company for the quality of items and the great customer service

The Purple carrot

I have been using Purple Carrot for 2 years now and it was the best decision I ever made.  I get 3 vegan meal kids delivered to me each week with all the ingredients pre-portioned and ready to go and in the two years I’ve used them, I don’t think there has been a single meal that I didn’t like.  They have several meal options include a high performance meal plan that Tom Brady and Gisele use that had additional protein in them and are all gluten free!

Simply Sleek Thermos

Yes its just another thermos but what makes this one special is that it can hold the tempature of cold or hot/warm foods for up to 12 hours!  This is a game-changer for me because I’m always on the go and get frustrated when my coffee, or tea gets cold quickly or my smoothie becomes lukewarm.  Smoothie fail!

This thermos also has a fruit/tea/coffee infuser to bring more flavor.

Trigger Point Therapy

I’ve been learning a lot about trigger points, facia healing and alternative therapies for working through muscular pain and tightness. These products over ways to do this on your own, daily to coincide with your other healing endeavors like PT, acupuncture, massage and chiropractic work

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, by Mark Manson

This book made me realize how much “stuff” I worry about or think about that could be released to create more space in my life for other, more important things.  Its funny, relatable and personal.  You’ve to to be ok with a lot of cursing to fully be on board with this book – but you probably gathered that from the title.

The Power of Habits, Charles Duhigg

This book was the most compelling one I read in 2017.  I use the philosophy and tenets from his work with my clients every day to help people understand how we establish habits and why they are so hard to change.  He also outlines truly specific and meaningful solutions to make meaningful behavioral change in your life.

The Body Image Blueprint, Jenny Eden Berk

Shameless self-promotion alert!  Have you ordered your copy of my book yet?  After writing about my own indoctrination into and eventually unshackling from dieting culture I interviewed over 60 people ranging from 22-70 about their body image journeys and discuss 4 healing body image realms with specific techniques to try every day.

The Big Leap, by Gay Hendricks

This book touches on how we go from good to great.  It takes a deep dive in the concept that each and every one of us has a zone of genius that we need to tap up against but we don’t out of fear and familiarity which can be very alluring.    The author helps to watch out signs for when we’re self-sabotaging and why we do it.  More importantly, he talks about strategies about how we can move past it.,

Essentialism: The disciplined pursuit of less, by Greg McKeown

I bought this book because I am a self-described clutter fiend.  Its a classic case of knowing doesn’t equal doing.  I know I need to minimize both in my living space and in my digital world but I didn’t have the tools to do this.  This book truly helped me start the process of de-hoarding and in the process clearing space mentally to do more of what I love.

Gastrophysics: The New Science of Eating, by Charles Spence

This book hits on all the foundations around food in my work:  Food psychology, the sensory and sensual experience of food and our overall enjoyment and experience of food based on our moods, expectations and senses.  Its a fabulous read!

Make it Stick: The Science of Successful Learning, by Peter Brown

I love learning about how we learn.  I’m truly fascinated by how we establish healthy habits and/or crowd out habits that no longer serve us.  This book does a great job of helping you understand the science of how we learn.

The Hacking of the American Mind, by Robert Lustig

This book talks all about how our society keeps us in a cycle of craving and consumption by focusing on dopamine (reward centers of our brain) vs. serotonin (the contentment part of our brains.  It’s a fascinating read.

Transform your Relationship with Exercise

Many people know I used to have a conflicted relationship with exercise.  I was either all in, or nothing at all.  That was until I found flow and mindful movement. Now I marvel at what my body can do and how good movement makes me feel.  This course will get you there too.
